Pourquoi 4Cats?
J’adore leur innovation. Ils combinent l’histoire et les arts de studio à l’aide d’expliquations créatives en jumellant mes deux grands amours: les arts visuels et le théatre. Partager tout cela avec les autres ne peux être rien de moins qu’une experience enrichissante.

Quelle est ta citation artistique favorite?

Quel est ton artiste favori et Pourquoi?
Wassily Kandinsky pour ses couleurers lumineuses, ses formes expressives et ses écrits théoriques. Henri Matisse pour son art vitré bleu inspiré de la botanique à la Chapelle du Rosaire et pour sa passion pour la poésie! Frida Kahlo pour son courage de partager ses experiences profondement personelles à travers ses toiles.

Quel est ton médium artistique favori et Pourquoi?
La peinture. J’adore l’odeure de peinture fraîche sur une toile!

What’s your educational background?
BA degree University of Cape Town B.A.F.A studies UCT. Pyschology UBC.

How did you first hear about 4Cats?
My parents called me from Vancouver excited about family friends having opened a 4Cats and studio who were looking for a curator. On visiting their beautiful studio in West Vancouver, I was not only inspired to work in a 4Cats studio but to have my very own 4Cats studio. Working in different mediums on a daily basis and working with children, it can’t get much better!

Why 4Cats?
I love the innovation of 4Cats, combining history and studio arts through storytelling an amalgamation of my own great loves: fine arts and theatre. To share it with others can be nothing less than a rewarding experience.

What is your favourite colour?
Blue, emerald green, orange, red……

Favourite art quote?

Who is your favourite artist and why?
-Wassily Kandinsky for his luminous colour, expressive forms and for his theoretical writings -Henri Matisse for his blue botanically inspired stained glass at Chapelle du Rosaire and for his passion for poetry! -Frida Kahlo for her courage in sharing her deeply personal experiences though paintings.

What is your favourite art medium, and why?
Painting. I love the smell of fresh paint on canvas!

Parles-nous de tes expériences éducatives et de vie:
J’ai étudié en Arts & Lettres à John Abbott College. J’ai aussi suivi un apprentissage en sculpture à Noble Studios (C.B.) Je dois un grand nombre d’heures qui ont su enrichir mes connaissances à des tonnes de livres de bibliothèque et à divers artistes à travers le Canada. Je suis aussi une musicienne, peintre et écrivaine autodidacte. Je crois qu’il y a des centaines de manières enrichissantes d’apprentissages et que celles-ci ne se limitent pas aux bâtiments d’école d’une société.

Comment à tu découvert 4Cats?
J’ai rencontré Tamsin et Ian quand ils étaient à quelques semaines d’ouvrir leur studio. Ils étaient si enthousiastes! J’étais très impressionnée de trouver une telle place dans ma communauté et je voulais en faire partie!

Pourquoi 4Cats?
4Cats me permet de faire quelque-chose qui me viens naturellement : encourager les autres à développer leur coté créatif! Je vois les enfants comme des génies desquels nous pouvons apprendre beaucoup plus que nous le croyons en prenant pour exemple leur curiosité. 4Cats valorise cette vision et cherche à encourager l’artiste dans chaque enfant à se développer! J’apprécie vraiment le respect que 4Cats a envers ses étudiants, et leurs histoires éducatives qui prêtent à leur apprentissage.

Quelle est ta couleur préférée?
Le violet. Cette couleur trouve un moyen de s’entendre avec toutes les autres couleurs!
Quelle est ta citation d’art favorite?
‘’Si tu entends une voix chez toi te dire « tu ne peut pas peindre », alors peint, certainement, et cette voix sera amortie.’’ Vincent Van Gogh
Qui est ton artiste favori et pourquoi?
Salvador Dali parce-que j’adore son excentricité et son audace. Je trouverai toujours de l’inspiration dans le courage qu’il a eu d’accepter l’incroyable monde de ses rêves.

Quel est ton médium artistique favori et pourquoi?
La peinture! Cela fait des années que j’y travaille, et je n’ai a peine commencé à percer le mystère qui me mènera à la perfection de ce médium.
Alors…un fait intéressant qu’on devrait connaitre à ton sujet?
Je vois de l’art partout!
Mon rêve d’enfance était de me joindre au cirque.

What’s your educational and life experience background?
I make a point of learning from each and every experience I embark on. I have studied Creative Arts and Literature at John Abbott College. I underwent a sculpting apprenticeship at Noble Studios, BC. I owe many hours of learning to tons of library books and various artists across Canada. I am also a self-taught musician, writer and painter. I believe there are over thousands of ways of learning that exist outside of school buildings.

How did you first hear about 4Cats?
I first met Tamsin and Ian when they were about to open their studio. They were so enthusiastic! I was very impressed with the concept of having such a great place in my community, and wanted to be a part of it!

Why 4Cats?
4Cats allows me to do something that comes naturally to me: encourage others to develop their creative side! I think children are geniuses and that we can learn a great deal from their curious nature. 4Cats values this vision and seeks to encourage the artist in each child to grow! I really appreciate the respect 4Cats has for their students, and their way of teaching through storytelling.

What is your favourite colour?
Purple, because it somehow gets along with all the other colours.

Favourite art quote?
If you hear a voice within you say ‘you cannot paint,’ then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.

Who is your favourite artist and why?
Salvador Dali because I love how eccentric and daring he was. I can always find inspiration in his courage to fully embrace the strange world of his dreams,

Painting! Because of the journey it demands of you in order to achieve perfection.

So…any other interesting facts we should know about you?
I see art in everything!
My childhood dream was to join the circus.
