Meet Shelly!

What’s your educational background?
I have my Early Childhood Education Diploma. I have been a nanny to twins, worked in a daycare centre, and once I had my first child I ran a daycare from my home. I am now a mom to 4 beautiful children and have learned many life experiences and lessons from being a mom.

How did you first hear about 4Cats?
I saw an ad in House and Home magazine and thought it looked interesting so I checked out the website and was immediately drawn to the colourful studios and art work. I just knew that 4Cats was for me!

Why 4Cats?
Well I love children, I love art and I love to teach so 4Cats fits. My own children are very artistic and love to draw and write and I love to see their faces light up when they show what they have done. I also love that every child can make art and feel good about themselves because of it. What better way to build a child’s self-esteem?

What is your favourite colour?
I love the blues and greens of a peacock.

Who is your favourite artist and why?
Well aside from my children who are the greatest artists, I love Jackson Pollock. I have always been a fan of abstract art, it is so colourful and fun. You can look at it any way you want and make your own story.

What is your favourite art medium, and why?
I love painting because there are so many things you can do with it, I love the textures and the colours you can make when mixing paint.

So…any other interesting facts we should know about you?
I think that the human body can be a great canvas, I love bright, colourful tattoos! I also love to sing and dance with my kids, it is a great feeling to let loose and be silly together!
