What’s your educational and life experience background?
Graduate of Capilano College; paralegal 18+ years; originally from Toronto.

How did you first hear about 4Cats?
My daughter, Arika, attended a fairy party at Main Street location.

Why 4Cats?
It’s the best, most fun, art studio ever!!!

Favourite colour?
I like them all.

Favourite art quote?
“Everyone will be famous for 15 minutes.” – Andy Warhol

Who is your favourite artist and why?
Vincent van Gogh. He’s Dutch, like me! His paintings are so alive!

What is your favourite art medium, and why?
Does chocolate count; I love painting with chocolate. My new love is pottery – playing on the wheel is SOOO relaxing!

So…any other interesting facts we should know about you?
I make cakes using whipping cream and chocolate!

Why 4Cats?
4Cats is awesome! Not only are the kids learning about artists and different medias of art, they get to learn it and make it in their own creative ways.

What is your favourite colour and why?
I love cool colours (green, turquoise, blue, purple, lilac) – they are easy on the eyes and very relaxing.

Who is your favourite artist and why?
Matisse. I love his use of bright colours and the abstractness of some of his creations. I also love Mary Blair- an artist who worked for Disney in the 50s. Her style is very similar to mine.

What is your favourite art medium, and why?
Drawing- It has always been a favourite past time of mine since I first picked up a pencil. I love the tones and shades you can create with just one medium – whether it be charcoal or a 4b pencil.

So…any other interesting facts we should know about you?
I love dogs!

Meet Michelle Sound!

What’s your educational and life experience background?
BFA in visual art from Simon Fraser University and MFA in visual art from Emily Carr University of Art+Design

How did you first hear about 4Cats?
I was driving by a 4cats art studio and all the art and bright colours caught my eye!

Why 4Cats?
I love the fun and playful atmosphere combined with art history and artist materials that really encourage and challenge young artists.

What is your favourite colour and why?
Pink because it can be either soft and pretty or loud and vibrant.

Who is your favourite artist and why?
I have so many that influence me, but I always love the colours and history in George Littlechild’s work and the flowers and colours of Beatriz Milhaze’s paintings.

What is your favourite art medium, and why?
Paint, because I love bright colours!

So…any other interesting facts we should know about you?
My son Ethan Mateo makes me super happy! He loves that I work at 4Cats, it’s his new favourite place!
