How did you first hear about 4Cats?
Our friends had a splatter painting framed in their living room and I inquired where I could get a similar painting. I was amazed to hear that their 9 year old daughter and her friends created it at 4Cats during a splatter birthday party!

Why 4Cats?
I love children and I love art! Need I say more?

What is your favourite colour?
Any shade of blue.

Who is your favourite artist and why?
Vincent van Gogh – I love how he paints very thick and that his paintings are full of colour and seem to be moving.

What is your favourite art medium, and why?
I love photography. I love capturing people spontaneously. I also like to experiment with different lenses and light.

So, any other interesting facts we should know about you?
Lots of people call me Lulu, it’s my nickname :)

Meet Greg!

How did you first hear about 4Cats?
My friend’s daughter had been to several classes at 4Cats and she raved about it. She showed me her Van Gogh sunflower painting and I thought it was amazing!

Why 4Cats?
Watching kids develop their inner artist is a truly inspiring experience! 4Cats classes and workshops do this on a daily basis and it was something I wanted to be a part of.

Favourite art quote?

What is your favourite colour?
Blue and blue and blue :)

Who is your favourite artist and why?
Frida Kahlo. Her paintings provoke such strong feelings and emotions. I love how she painted from the heart!

What is your favourite art medium, and why?
Stop motion animation. I Love creating critters that come to life on film!

Breakfast for dinner is my favourite meal.

Meet Curator Kallie Jean Sorensen!

What’s your background? I have a bachelor of fine arts degree from The University of Saskatchewan.

Why 4Cats?
I first heard about 4Cats from a fellow actress. She had just started her curator training with 4Cats and she couldn’t hold back her excitement. She made 4Cats sound like the best most fun art studio ever. So I had to check it out.

What is your favourite colour?
GREEN! I love love love green. I love the colour green because it makes me think of the great outdoors. I am a nature lover and green reminds me of being outside with Mother Nature.

Favourite art quote?
“There are no mistakes in art”

Who is your favourite artist and why?
My favorite artist in the whole wide world is Van Charles! I love his work for its bright bold colours and creative use of multi media. I think I have learned more about the arts from Van Charles than I have from any other art teacher. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that he is my big brother.

What is your favourite art medium and why?
You mean I can only pick one? Oh my, that’s a tough one. Well I’m an old fashioned girl and nothing beats a good old fashioned graphite pencil & paper. It’s amazing what you can do when you learn all the tricks and secrets of sketching.

Any other interesting facts we should know about you?
My love for the arts goes far beyond the visual arts. I also enjoy working in preforming arts. I have preformed as an actress on stage in the theater as well as on film.

Meet Curator Reshma Balkaran!


What’s your background?Sisler High School, Winnipeg Manitoba, with a major in design and arts.

How did you first hear about 4Cats?
I was researching the city’s art industry on the internet and then I read up on 4Cats Arts Studio.

Why 4Cats?
I believe that children are the future with their imagination and thoughts. I want to encourage their creativity and imagination as it tends to become lost when it is not exercised enough.

What is your favourite colour and why?
My favorite colour is saphire blue because it is the colour of royalty. Also it is an eye catching colour!

Who is your favourite artist and why?
My favorite artist is Andy Warhol because of his way with creativity. His imagination is limitless, and he shows that art doesn’t have to have logic or “make sense.” It simply is a way to express your own self and style in many different ways. He also has a way of adding fun to every day ordinary objects. In a way, he turns seriousness into fun and excitement.

What is your favourite art medium, and why?
I really enjoy working with oil pastels & oil paint, as it creates so much texture as well as vibrant colour. My favorite art pieces are those that have so much personality, colour and texture.

So…any other interesting facts we should know about you?
I am currently writing a book on creativity and the importance of imagination. Being original is what leads to a really successful career and business; if it has never been done before you need imagination. This is my main goal, to encourage creativity especially in children where imagination is limitless.

Meet Curator Andrea Anton!

What’s your background?
I attended Film school to study acting. I have always been a highly creative person, building my life around the arts. I like to refer to myself as a creative ball of energy, always looking for the next opportunity to make something awesome!

Why 4Cats?

I love the whole concept of 4Cats. The kids at 4Cats get to learn about some of the greatest artists of all time and create masterpieces inspired the famous artists. They get to use all the real artist tools and truly learn about art!

What is your favourite colour?
Green. I love all the different greens found in nature. Especially in the trees.

Who is your favourite artist and why?

Van Gogh would have to be my favourite artist. I find his dots, dashes and swirls all through my own artwork.

What is your favourite art medium and why?

I love to draw! My drawing are more like doodles. I use bright colourful pens to draw interesting characters and scenes.

Some of my other favourite pass-times include making earrings and writing music.
