Meet Kelly!

What’s your educational background?
I have travelled a few different paths in my education. I started out studying general arts, moved on to massage therapy, then completed my diploma of Nursing and became a registered nurse. Although my education goals changed over time art has remained a constant in my life. Creating artwork provides me with a way to unwind, express myself, explore a new medium, and give gifts from the heart.

How did you first hear about 4Cats?
I saw an advertisement in House and Home magazine, with a woman splattered with paint with a great big smile on her face. The ad mentioned having fun with kids, making art and running your own business and I was intrigued…

Why 4Cats?
I love the sense of humour and the fun approach to teaching kids about art history and expressing themselves through art.

What is your favourite colour?
My Favourite colour is red and the many shades of red, red, red.

Favourite art quote?

Who is your favourite artist and why?
Norman Rockwell – I can’t help but make up a story behind his pictures. I am amazed at the detail and his ability to convey emotion and expression on every character in his pieces – even a large crowd.

What is your favourite art medium, and why?
Paint – because you can create anything from the most detailed to the most obscure.

So…any other interesting facts we should know about you?
The first trophy I ever won was for best illustrated story, when I was in grade one. I also love learning new ways to create – from face-painting to balloon animals, silversmithing to mosaics, guitar to writing, you name it!
