Meet Gaylia!
What’s your educational and life experience background?
I have been active in the Arts, and enjoying teaching for my entire professional career. After studying music at the University of Calgary, I taught piano for many years before having my two children. I have since completed my Bachelor of Commerce in Entrepreneurship, and am currently working on my Masters in Arts. Connecting with 4Cats families is absolutely the most fun and rewarding experience!
How did you first hear about 4Cats?
My daughter attended a fabulous Splatter party – and we were hooked!
Why 4Cats?
4Cats offers a solid curriculum – learning both art techniques as well as all about the artists and why they are important historically. This approach makes art relevant to the children who study here, and provides a basis for a lifetime of interest in the arts.
What is your favourite colour?
RED! Brilliant, vibrant, warm and glowing RED!
Who is your favourite artist and why?
My home is filled with a huge variety of art – and I love all of the artists! What I respond to most is bold use of colour.
What is your favourite art medium, and why?
Paint – I love to watch colours change as the light changes, and I’m fascinated by the various methods used by artists to capture their vision.
So… any other interesting facts we should know about you?
I play piano, love to swim, and could eat popcorn all day every day and never get tired of it!

I first noticed 4Cats when they opened the studio on Goldstream Ave. I was drawn to the beauty of the studio and the concept of incorporating Art History into early childhood Art lessons.
Why 4Cats?
4Cats is the perfect combination of my two loves; children and art. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with my dear friend Gaylia Lassner to support her in this creative business endeavor.
What is your favourite colour?
My favourite colour is green. I love being in the forest, surrounded by all of the great, green growing things. I love the smell of green.

One of my favourite artists is Henry Moore. I admire the flowing forms of his work, this variety of scale, and his insistence that his work be viewed outdoors in nature.

My favourite art medium is sculpture.
So… any other interesting facts we should know about you?
