Meet Carley!

What’s your educational and life experience background?
I took Fine Arts at OUC (Okanagan University College) for a few years before I went to Vancouver to obtain my Bachelor’s Degree for Interior Design. I have worked as a designer in the Lower Mainland for a number of years specializing in lighting layouts for residential design.

Why 4Cats?
If you have a love for learning, art, children and a ton of fun, it just makes sense! Parents who are dropping their children off at the studio always tell me that I have the best job in the world!

What is your favourite colour?
I really don’t have one. I like so many colours and I just can’t stick with one. I do know that I like warmer colours.

Favourite art quote?
“I have been absolutely terrified every moment of my life and I’ve never let it keep me from doing a single thing I wanted to do.” – Georgia O’Keeffe.

Who is your favourite artist and why?
I have always love the work of Henri Matisse. I specifically like his Fauve period because of the expressive use of colours in his artwork.

What is your favourite art medium, and why?
I am a fan of mixed media and 3-dimensional art. I love the texture and the depth that can be achieved by using a number of different mediums combined. There is such a story to be told through these types of creations.

So…any other interesting facts we should know about you?
Every time I travel, I try to support local artists by purchasing their art. I love coming home and looking at the collection I have created – it takes me back to that place and time and those are times I want to remember for the rest of my life.

Meet Amy!

What’s your background?
I have finished my third year in the BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) program at UBCO. I want to pursue my dream of becoming an elementary school teacher. I have been teaching kids how to swim for over 6 years.

 
How did you first hear about 4Cats?
I first heard about 4Cats through a friend!

Why 4Cats?
I chose 4Cats because I love the way they teach art! It’s the best, most fun art studio ever!

What is your favourite colour and why?
My favorite colour is red, because it means love and power. And red always seems to ‘pop out’ in paintings.

Who is your favourite artist and why?
My favorite artist is Claude Monet; I love his impressionist paintings of all the different colours. I especially like the “Water Lily Pond” piece of art work!

What is your favourite art medium, and why?
My favorite art medium is clay, because I get to make my hands nice and dirty!

So…any other interesting facts we should know about you?
I love the outdoors; going for hikes and going swimming!
