Educational background?
I am an artist who has worked with a variety of mediums and am also a collector of original artworks.

Why 4Cats?
3Cats just didn’t seem enough? No, seriously…a studio centered around children’s education and throwing paint? Any experience with kids lets you know how rewarding running a studio like this could be. -‘Nuff said!.

Favourite colour?
Colour has such a wonderful ability to evoke a reaction, or turn a mood. It’s hard to focus on one and say “there, that’s my favourite.” Each day, each moment could provide a different answer. -No, wait forget all that… RED! Red is robust!

Favourite art quote?
“The method of painting is the natural growth out of a need. I want to express my feelings rather than illustrate them” – Jackson Pollock.

Who is your favourite artist?
My godfather, Witold Palka – a Polish artist, well-known and respected for his work with oils. I love the vibrancy of colour in his paintings, which provoke a wonderfully emotional response that naturally complements his subjects and themes. Growing up, it was a gift to be able to watch him paint, be witness to his creations and admire his paintings everyday in our home.

Favourite medium?
I love painting with oils! There is a certain joy to working with oils… the texture, the blending, the continued working of the elements with sometimes planned and sometimes surprising results!

Educational background?
I have an Early Childhood Education Certificate from Langley college and I have also taken some Studio Art classes at Kwantlen University

Why 4Cats?
I have always loved working with children, particularly in the area of visual arts. I have also always had an interest in creating, whether it’s painting, interior designing, sewing handbags, building childrens toys, or drawing. 4Cats is the perfect combination of both of these worlds!

“Every child is an artist (the problem is how to remain one once he grows up)” -Picasso

What is your favourite colour?
Green.

Who is your favourite artist and why?
Too many great choices… Recently I have taken an interest in Vincent Van Gogh…maybe because of my Dutch heritage, and my admiration of those who paint in the impressionist style using lots of paint.

What is your favourite art medium, and why?
Graphite- I like the detail and shading that can be achieved with this medium. I also think the artwork produced is striking because of the focus on shape, line and value, rather than colour.

Any other interesting facts we should know about you?
Not only is my favourite colour green and my favourite animal the frog, I also have an entire collection of green frog paraphernalia.

Educational background?
Graduate of Emily Carr University.

How did you first hear about 4Cats?
While searching for a job in Arts, I came across 4Cats so I looked into the programs they offered and fell in love with the concept.

Why 4Cats?
I love kids and love art, so what more could you ask for!

So far, what lesson has been your favourite?
Clay, because I love the texture of it.

What is your favourite colour?
I have two – aquamarine and orange.

Renoir is one of my favourite because I love his style of impressionism.
